The Norwegian parliament allocated 50 million in the 2017 budget to start a Norwegian catapult program, inspired by UK. The purpose is to build industrial full-scale test facilities to be able to test, simulate and visualize industrial processes, throughout the development process. Announcement of the funds are expected in April this year.

Based on this the organizations GCE Blue Maritime and Norwegian Industry invited companies in the cluster to a workshop on the subject on 13 March. In total 25 participants joined in for the workshop. World class players, as Kleven, Ulstein, VARD, Rolls-Royce Marine and Inmarsat attended along a number of small and medium-sized companies, both from the maritime industry and other industries. The goal of the workshop was to inform the business community about the work in progress and lay the foundation for a coordinated application.
