Ai i Maritim Industri
Project time period — 2025 - 2025
Lead — GCE Blue Maritime Cluster
Total Budget — 480.000 NOK
Funding — Innovation Norway
The AI in Maritime (AiMar) project is a pre-study that aims to map the current use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the Norwegian maritime industry. While interest in AI is growing, there are still few documented and implemented solutions in this sector. At the same time, global development is accelerating. This project seeks to provide a clear overview, identify key opportunities and challenges, and lay the foundation for more strategic use of AI in the maritime value chain.
The project is closely linked to the national NEMONOOR initiative and will serve as a regional platform to connect the maritime cluster with tools, networks, and expertise made available through NEMONOOR.
Key objectives include:
- Mapping existing AI applications in the maritime sector.
- Identifying knowledge gaps and competence needs.
- Exploring high-potential areas for AI adoption.
- Creating a roadmap for a future Maritime AI Center.
Activities will include a systematic review of current AI projects, analysis of the cluster’s current AI maturity, and a pilot workshop bringing together companies, researchers, and technology experts. The aim is to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and spark new initiatives.
The expected outcome is increased awareness and practical understanding of AI, enabling companies to adopt new technologies and improve competitiveness. By supporting strategic implementation of AI, the project aims to position Norway as a leader in maritime digitalization.
