NORWEGIAN EXPORT INITATIVE:
CRUISE AND FERRIES

Project time period — 2025 - 2026

Lead — GCE Blue Maritime Cluster

Partners – Innovation Norway

Total Budget — 2’500’000 NOK

Funding — Innovation Norway

As part of the National maritime export initatiative, this project aims to bring Norwegian maritime suppliers closer to the global negotiating tables in the cruise and ferry market. With support from Innovation Norway’s international offices and the Norwegian Maritime Export Office, along with assistance from international experts and members of our own forum – the Norwegian Cruise and Ferry Group – we aim to ensure that Norwegian maritime expertise and technology become more visible and in demand internationally.

This initiative is launched alongside the export initiative for Green Maritime Short Sea Shipping, led by Maritime Cleantech. We will work closely with this effort moving forward, and together strengthen the competitiveness of Norwegian maritime companies.

Four Key Tools:

1. Coordinated Market Intelligence We gather and analyze market data based on the GCE Blue Maritime Cluster’s World Orderbook, combined with up-to-date insights from Innovation Norway’s international offices and Norwegian foreign missions. This will give Norwegian companies access to targeted, up-to-date market knowledge – which is crucial in these highly global value chains. The cruise segment today is largely dominated by European shipyards and American cruise lines, while RoPax and ferry vessels are increasingly being built at Chinese shipyards for European operators.

2. Shipyard and Operator Visits We facilitate Trade Missions to leading shipyards and shipowner offices, where Norwegian maritime companies can build connections and present their technology and expertise directly to decision-makers.

3. Market Expertise Through our network, we have access to several international experts with deep knowledge of the cruise and ferry sectors. These experts will assist companies in identifying relevant business opportunities and the right points of contact for Norwegian suppliers.

4. Export Strategy Training with the "Export Team Norway" Program This program builds on last year’s Maritime Export Scaling initiative and aims to develop a new team every year. By working closely with companies that already have export experience, participants receive help crafting and implementing tailored export strategies – together with experts in the cluster who have “been there before.” The goal is to ensure that new Norwegian exporters both 1) reach the right Innovation Norway offices abroad and 2) arrive prepared – with a plan.

We are now bringing together all Norwegian companies with export interests toward these markets, and will provide you with a rich selection of both market insights and upcoming activities. Sign up for the newsletter today.
