- I firmly believe that closer collaboration among the members will help fully utilize the region's potential, leading to more growth, innovation, and exports, says Pierre Major. He will gradually assume his new role and be fully in place by March 1. Pierre comes from the role of VP of Business Development and Head of Research at OSC (Offshore Simulator Center).

I am excited to take on this important role within one of the world's largest, most renowned, and innovative maritime clusters.

He already has the key figures in place for the cluster: The cluster consists of 15 shipping companies, seven shipyards, six ship designers, and a total of 111 equipment suppliers. Together, the cluster companies have 14,400 employees and an annual turnover of 58 billion. This is a strategically important cluster for Møre and Romsdal, Norway, and Europe.

Experience from the Maritime Industry

Pierre has extensive experience in the maritime industry, having previously worked at Vard Electro before joining OSC. holds a master's degree in electronics and information technology from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Zürich, as well as a Ph.D. in Ocean Engineering from NTNU in Ålesund.

Looking Forward

- ÅKP is a dynamic organization that offers a diverse range of services and opportunities all in one place. Delegations from all around the world visit us to observe how we work together here. I am excited to start working at ÅKP and getting to know my colleagues who excel in their respective fields. As for GCE Blue Maritime, I am eager to meet our members and learn about their needs and expectations from the cluster.

Many Strong Applicants

Kirsti Slotsvik, the CEO of ÅKP, can confirm that there were many highly qualified applicants for the position of head of the cluster, but both ÅKP and GCE Blue Maritime were pleased that Pierre accepted the job when it was offered to him.

One of Pierre's most valuable assets is his ability to build bridges and networks. We are confident that he will be a great addition to both GCE Blue Maritime and ÅKP, Kirsti adds.
