Record growth in R&D spending
The ocean industries in Møre and Romsdal has a record growth in R&D spending. From 2014 to 2015 the costs of internal corporate R&D has increased by 62 percent.

Recent figures from Statistics Norway show a growth of 62 percent in corporate initiated research in Møre og Romsdal from 2014 to 2015.
It is a very positive development that shows that the corporate sector initiates a large number of research and development projects in the wake of the downturn in the oil industry, says Arthur Almestad in the Norwegian Research Council
"Skattefunn" for NOK 1.5 billion
In Norway much of the research funding goes directly to the big university cities. But when it comes to corporate research Møre and Romsdal is on top. The region scores particularly high on "Skattefunn" which is a tax credit scheme. In 2016, the total budgeted project costs in "SkatteFUNN" projects summed up to 1.5 billion NOK.
